Veterans Day Program

A Veterans Day Program will be held at the Cambria-Friesland School District on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Farmers & Merchants Union Bank Auditorium. Members of the Cambria American Legion Post #401 and Randolph VFW Post #9510 will be present.   Cambria-Friesland Band and Choir students will be performing several musical selections.All members of the public are invited to attend this ceremony.

The Cambria-Friesland School District is seeking Destination Imagination Team Managers for the 2014-2015 school year. Compensation is $300.00 for the season.  

Team managers teach and encourage their student teams to work together and think outside of the box. This position starts in November and will end in May. Interested candidates can expect to meet regularly throughout the Destination Imagination season.

Students Reminded to Dress Warm

With the weather getting colder, it is important that your child(ren) is prepared at school.  Elementary children are expected to go outside for every recess. Please dress them appropriately with hats, gloves, coats, boots, and snow pants.  An extra pair of gloves is also a wise choice if your child’s are not waterproof.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

Announcements concerning school closings in the event of bad weather or severe road conditions will be broadcast on the following radio/television stations:

           WBEV – Beaver Dam  1430 AM
WDDC – Portage  100 FM
WXRO – Beaver Dam  95.3 FM    
WISC TV – Madison  Channel 3
WOLX – Madison  94.9 FM
WKOW TV – Madison  Channel 27
WPDR – Portage  1350 AM

If school is cancelled or delayed due to inclement weather an AlertSolutions message will be sent out. 

School cancellations or delays will be made as early as possible.

PARENTS:  Please have an alternate plan of action for your younger children as to where to go if you are not home in case of school dismissal earlier than scheduled.  During snowy days buses will also be starting out five (5) minutes earlier in the A.M. 

CHILDREN:  Do dress warmly for the winter season.  Unless extreme weather conditions exist, you will be going outside during recess.

IF SCHOOL IS DELAYED FOR TWO (2) HOURS OR MORE, MORNING EARLY CHILDHOOD/PRE-KINDERGARTEN CLASSES WILL NOT BE HELD.   IF THERE IS AN EARLY RELEASE, AFTERNOON PRE-KINDERGARTEN CLASSES WILL NOT BE HELD. 



Bread Basket Community Food Pantry

The Bread Basket Community Food Pantry is available to residents of Cambria and the close vicinity who may need food on an emergency basis, by appointment only.

The pantry is located in the basement of the Presbyterian Church.  The entrance is on Towyn Street.

OPEN: 1st Monday of the month, 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
2nd, 3rd, 4th Tuesdays of the month, 10:00 a.m. to noon.

Free Medical Clinic - Portage, WI

When: 9 a.m. to noon every Wednesday.
Where: the lower level of Wilz Drug and Home Health Care, 140 E. Cook St.
Who can get free clinic services: Anybody. No appointment or insurance necessary, and Columbia County residency is not required.

The Cambria-Friesland School District is located 40 miles north of Madison, 25 miles east of Portage and 19 miles west of Beaver Dam.  The school district community includes the villages of Cambria and Friesland and six townships.  The Cambria-Friesland School District enrolls about 420 students in one building.
